Record fuel prices as petrol, diesel hit Rs414 per liter in Pakistan
The new fuel prices came into effect nationwide from midnight, following an official notification issued by the federal government.
According to the notification, petrol prices were increased by Rs14.92 per liter, while high-speed diesel was increased by Rs15 per liter.
After the latest increase, petrol is now available at Rs414.58 per liter, while high-speed diesel has reached Rs414.78 per liter. The sharp rise in fuel prices has raised concerns among citizens already struggling with inflation and increasing living expenses.
Petrol is commonly used in motorcycles, cars, and rickshaws, meaning the increase is expected to directly affect millions of daily commuters across the country.
At the same time, high-speed diesel is mainly used in buses, trucks, and agricultural machinery, raising fears of higher transportation and farming costs. Economic experts say the increase in fuel prices could lead to another wave of inflation, as transport and logistics expenses are likely to rise in the coming days.

Analysts believe higher freight charges may eventually increase the prices of food items, vegetables, and other essential goods in markets nationwide. Public transport fares are also expected to increase in several cities after the latest fuel price adjustment.
The continuous rise in petroleum prices has added pressure on household budgets, especially for low- and middle-income families already facing economic difficulties.
Experts say global oil market fluctuations and regional tensions continue to influence Pakistan’s fuel pricing decisions. Analysts believe further instability in international energy markets could create additional economic pressure if oil prices continue rising globally.
