Rawalpindi Ring Road enters final stage – Route revealed before opening
The 38.6-kilometer Rawalpindi Ring Road project is now close to completion. Authorities say construction work on most parts of the corridor has already been finished.
Officials expect the main route to open for traffic by mid-June. Important interchanges at Banth, Chak Beli Khan Road, Adiala, and Chakri are also expected to become operational.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi’s electric bus network is set to expand with new bus stops and routes expected to become operational within a week.
Construction work on bus stop sheds for the expanding electric bus network in Rawalpindi is expected to be completed within a week, paving the way for the launch of new e-bus services at Marqa-i-Haq Square, formerly known as Kutchery Chowk.
According to district administration officials, multiple bus bays are being developed at key locations including Fatima Jinnah Women University, District Courts main gate, Marqa-i-Haq Monument, Police Monument on Old Airport Road, State Bank of Pakistan on The Mall, and Gymkhana on Rashid Minhas Road.
Authorities said finishing work is ongoing on drainage systems, lighting, footpaths, service roads, and the Annexe Chowk underpass near Jinnah Park. The underpass is also expected to be opened within a week, improving traffic flow in the area.
Officials confirmed that more than 35 additional electric buses will arrive in the city soon. The Punjab Mass Transit Authority plans to increase the operational fleet from 45 to 80 buses within a month.
