Punjab to introduce online marking system for board exams
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has directed all education boards to accelerate examination reforms by adopting modern technology and ensuring greater transparency throughout the examination process.
Chairing an introductory meeting with the newly appointed chairpersons of the education boards, the minister announced that online screen marking would be introduced on a pilot basis during the upcoming supplementary examinations.
He said there is no room for errors in paper setting, marking, or invigilation, stressing that education boards are responsible for safeguarding the future of millions of students.
Rana Sikandar Hayat also directed officials to ensure that the examination process remains free from political interference and the influence of exam mafias. He said merit and transparency must remain the top priorities.

The minister instructed board chairpersons to regularly inspect marking centres, closely monitor sensitive examination centres, and take strict action against anyone found checking answer sheets carelessly or incorrectly.
He further directed the authorities to ensure the availability of basic facilities at examination centres, including electricity, fans, drinking water, and proper lighting, so that students can take their examinations without unnecessary inconvenience.
The Punjab government believes these reforms will make the examination system more transparent, reliable, and efficient while reducing the chances of human error.
