Punjab to Establish Stroke Centers Across Every Division
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the chief minister in Lahore on Monday to review progress on the Chief Minister’s Stroke Program.
40 Stroke Centers Already Operational
Officials informed the meeting that 40 Primary Stroke Centers are currently fully operational across Punjab, while 17 additional centers are expected to become functional by December.
According to officials, timely treatment at designated stroke centers has so far helped save 336 patients from permanent disability following a stroke.
The operational centers have trained doctors and medical staff, along with essential medicines for emergency treatment
710 Tenecteplase Injections Available
The 40 operational stroke centers currently have a stock of 710 Tenecteplase (TNK) injections, which are used in the treatment of eligible patients suffering from acute ischemic stroke.
The availability of trained staff and emergency medicines is aimed at ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment as quickly as possible.
New Neuro-Angiography Facilities Planned
The Punjab government also plans to establish neuro-angiography suites at several major hospitals during the current year.
The planned facilities include Teaching Hospital Rawalpindi, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Nishtar-II Multan, and Teaching Hospital Sargodha.
Comprehensive Stroke Centers are already operating at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences in Lahore and the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.
Stroke Services Expanded Across Lahore
Several major hospitals in Lahore have been designated as Primary Stroke Centers. These include Services Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Ganga Ram Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, General Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and Shahdara Teaching Hospital.
Stroke-treatment injections are also available at major hospitals in different parts of Punjab, including Nishtar Hospital Multan, Allama Iqbal Hospital Sialkot, Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan, Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur, and Allama Iqbal Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan.

District Hospitals Also Providing Treatment
Primary Stroke Centers are operational at District Headquarters hospitals in Sheikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Khanewal, Vehari, and Multan.
In addition, stroke-treatment injections are available at DHQ hospitals in Bhakkar, Layyah, Gujranwala, Narowal, Jhang, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, and Gujrat
More Stroke Centers Established
The provincial government has also established stroke centers at Children’s Hospitals in Multan and Faisalabad, Sadiq Abbasi Hospital Bahawalpur, Nishtar-II Teaching Hospital Sargodha, and Allied Hospital-II Faisalabad.
The planned expansion of stroke centers across every division is intended to improve timely access to emergency care and strengthen Punjab’s overall stroke-treatment network.
