Punjab launches 33 mobile police stations offering 14 services
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched mobile police station vans aimed at making essential police services more accessible to citizens across the province. The initiative has made 33 mobile police stations operational in different districts.
The mobile units are designed to serve people who may have difficulty travelling long distances to conventional police stations or Police Khidmat Markaz. Punjab Police already provides a range of digital and public-facing services, including online complaints, tenant registration, police verification, and character certificates.
Six Pink Mobile Police Stations for women
The programme also includes six Pink Mobile Police Stations staffed by female personnel.
These units will focus on assisting women, particularly in cases involving harassment, violence, and abuse against women and children. The presence of female staff is intended to give women a more comfortable and accessible way to report sensitive issues and seek police assistance.
The mobile units will also visit universities and girls’ colleges according to scheduled routes. Authorities can also send the vans to other areas based on information received through Police Emergency 15 calls.
14 services available through mobile units
Each mobile police station will provide 14 police-related services, allowing citizens to complete several tasks without having to visit a permanent police facility. The services include online FIR applications, missing reports, criminal record checks, tenant registration, police verification, and character certificate verification.
Citizens will also be able to report lost identity cards and other important documents through the mobile units. The facility is expected to make routine police-related procedures easier, particularly for people living in areas where access to service centres is limited.
Driving licence services also available
The mobile police stations will also provide several driving licence facilities. Citizens will be able to apply for learner and regular driving licences through the units.
The services will also include licence renewals, duplicate licences and international driving licences.
A similar mobile police station and licensing facility was previously launched in Rawalpindi, where officials said the unit would provide learner’s licences, regular motorcycle and motor car licences, duplicate licences, international licences and licence renewal services.
Mobile units aim to reduce travel burden
The Punjab government says the mobile units will help reduce the time and expenses citizens face when travelling to police stations or service centres. The vans will visit different locations according to planned schedules, making it easier for residents to access government services closer to their homes and institutions.
The initiative is particularly aimed at people living in far-flung areas where access to public service facilities can be difficult. The mobile units can also be deployed in areas identified through emergency calls, allowing authorities to respond according to local needs.
Women to receive dedicated assistance
The Pink Mobile Police Stations will have female personnel to assist women dealing with sensitive matters.
These include complaints involving harassment, violence and abuse against women and children. Having female officers available at dedicated mobile units could also make it easier for women to approach the police and explain their complaints.

The initiative comes as Punjab Police continues to expand services aimed at improving access for women and other vulnerable groups. The provincial police currently lists women’s help services and other citizen-focused facilities among its public services.

Authorities will announce the schedules of the mobile police stations through social media and other communication channels. Local mosque announcements will also be used to inform residents about the arrival and location of the mobile units.
This will allow citizens to know when a mobile police station is expected to visit their area and plan their visits accordingly. Clear communication about routes and schedules will be important to ensure that people can make full use of the new facilities.
Mobile policing expands access to public services
The introduction of mobile police stations is part of a wider move towards making police services more accessible and technology-driven.
Punjab Police has already expanded digital facilities through its e-Police Post and citizen-focused applications. These platforms allow people to submit complaints, obtain verification services and access other police-related facilities without always having to make a physical visit.
The mobile units add a physical service option for people who may not have easy access to digital platforms or permanent service centres.

The new mobile police stations could make several routine police procedures easier for residents across Punjab. Instead of travelling to a distant police station or service centre, citizens in covered areas will have access to multiple services through a mobile unit.
For women, the Pink Mobile Police Stations provide an additional channel for reporting sensitive complaints, with female staff available to assist them. The programme will also bring licensing and verification services closer to communities.
