Opposition leaders discuss long march preparations
A meeting of opposition leaders was held in Islamabad to review preparations for the planned long march and discuss the prevailing political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar attended the meeting. The participants discussed arrangements for the long march and exchanged views on recent political developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting came as PTI continued preparations for its September 27 march towards Islamabad. The party has said it plans to proceed with the protest and has continued mobilisation ahead of the event.
Gohar calls for dialogue
Speaking during the meeting, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan called for dialogue and said the ‘use of force’ against political figures was not the appropriate course of action. He said the opposition did not want the public and law-enforcement personnel to come face to face.
Gohar also stressed the need to handle the political situation through dialogue rather than confrontation. His remarks came amid preparations for the September 27 long march, with the government also taking security measures ahead of the planned protest.
PTI says political parties should remain in the political arena
Gohar said political parties should not be removed from the political arena, warning that such steps could have serious consequences. He maintained that political differences should be addressed through political and democratic processes.

Gohar backs Sohail Afridi as KP chief minister
Gohar also said that Sohail Afridi would continue to serve as chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

His remarks came amid political discussions surrounding the provincial government and speculation over possible changes in the province. Gohar said Afridi remained the party’s chief minister and had the support of the PTI leadership.
Sohail Afridi challenges possible Governor’s Rule
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has challenged any move to impose Governor’s Rule in the province. He has maintained that his government came to power with a public mandate and has opposed measures that could affect the provincial administration.
The issue of Governor’s Rule has become part of the wider political debate surrounding Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had earlier said legal options, including Governor’s Rule, were being considered, while Information Minister Attaullah Tarar later said the federal government had no intention of imposing Governor’s Rule in the province.
