(Web Desk): Pakistan’s Prime Minister confirms no hike in petrol and diesel, easing financial burden on consumers amid global fuel inflation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has confirmed that the government will not raise petrol and diesel prices, offering significant relief to citizens facing mounting economic pressures.

In a national address, the Prime Minister revealed that officials had recently proposed a sharp increase, suggesting petrol should rise by Rs95 per litre and diesel by Rs203 per litre. The government, however, decided to maintain petrol at Rs322 per litre and diesel at Rs335 per litre. Without these measures, the fuel prices would have escalated to Rs544 per litre for petrol and Rs790 per litre for diesel.

PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that the federal government will absorb an extra Rs56 billion this week to shield the public from rising fuel costs. He stressed that protecting the economy of ordinary citizens remains his top priority, noting that despite global fuel prices doubling, Pakistanis have been largely spared from the full impact.
