ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi oil tankers, assures Saudi Arabia of Pakistan’s full support and backs secure Red Sea shipping.

Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Saudi Arabia during a telephone conversation with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The prime minister spoke with Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the latest security situation following the attacks. In a post on X, Shehbaz Sharif said he condemned the Houthi militia’s attacks “in the strongest possible terms”, describing them as unacceptable and a violation of international law.

He said the attacks threaten freedom of navigation, undermine regional peace and security, and pose a serious risk to international maritime trade. The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed unwavering support for its leadership and people.

“I, together with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the entire Pakistani nation, stand firmly and resolutely with the Saudi leadership and the brotherly people of the Kingdom at this critical time,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif added that he and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had agreed to continue working closely to maintain regional peace, security and stability. Both leaders also stressed the importance of ensuring the uninterrupted flow of lawful maritime trade through the Red Sea, the Strait of Hormuz and the wider region.

The conversation comes amid growing regional tensions following the reported attacks on Saudi oil tankers, which have raised concerns about the safety of one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes.
