Punjab education minister to teach students in schools

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that he will personally teach students in government schools from the first week of September as part of an initiative to improve the quality of education.

The minister said he will begin by teaching English and Chemistry during his visits to schools in Lahore. He added that these are among his favourite subjects, which is why he has chosen to start with them. According to the minister, he will teach English in primary schools and Chemistry in high schools. He also plans to teach other subjects during his visits whenever needed.

Rana Sikandar Hayat further announced that he will visit one school every week without prior notice. During these visits, he will teach students, observe classroom activities, and review the overall learning environment.

“I respect teachers and will feel proud to serve as a teacher,” the minister said while explaining the purpose of the initiative.

He said the classroom visits would help him directly assess the quality of education, identify weaknesses in the teaching system, and better understand the challenges faced by teachers and students. The minister added that the initiative aims to improve teaching standards, strengthen classroom learning, and ensure better educational outcomes across Punjab’s government schools.
