PIA starts direct flights from Lahore to Manchester
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially launched direct flights between Lahore and Manchester, marking another step in expanding its international network. The new service is expected to make travel easier for passengers, especially the large Pakistani community living in the United Kingdom.
The inaugural flight, PK-709, departed from Lahore for Manchester. A simple but formal ceremony was held at Lahore Airport to mark the occasion, where a cake-cutting ceremony was also organised. PIA Chief Operating Officer Khurram Mushtaq saw off the passengers before the flight’s departure.
Passengers welcomed the restoration of direct air connectivity between Lahore and Manchester, saying it would save time and make travel more convenient for families, business travellers, and overseas Pakistanis.
A total of 325 passengers travelled on the inaugural Lahore-to-Manchester flight. Earlier, the first Manchester-to-Lahore flight departed the previous night and was seen off by PIA’s local management and officials from the Manchester Airport Group.

With the launch of the new route, PIA will now operate five weekly flights between Pakistan and Manchester. According to the airline, four weekly flights will depart from Islamabad, while one weekly flight will operate from Lahore.
PIA officials said the expanded flight schedule would improve travel facilities, strengthen connectivity between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, and provide greater convenience for passengers travelling between the two countries.
