ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Kerosene price raised despite petrol cut as the government announced a fresh fuel price adjustment across Pakistan.

The government has increased the price of kerosene oil even as consumers received relief through a reduction in petrol prices, creating mixed reactions among fuel users.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of kerosene oil has been increased by Rs8.70 per litre. Following the increase, the new price has reached Rs280.70 per litre, compared to the previous rate of Rs272 per litre.

The increase comes shortly after the government announced a reduction in petrol prices while keeping diesel rates unchanged. According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the latest fuel prices came into effect on June 6. After a cut of Rs4 per litre, petrol is now available at Rs377.78 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has been maintained at Rs380.78 per litre, with no change. The latest adjustment follows a major reduction made last week, when the government cut the prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs22 per litre each. Following that reduction, petrol was being sold at Rs381.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel was available at Rs380.78 per litre.

Before those cuts, petrol was priced at Rs403.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel was priced at Rs402.78 per litre. Earlier, during the pricing period that began on May 15, the government had also announced a reduction of Rs5 per litre in petroleum product prices.

The latest increase in kerosene prices is likely to affect households and consumers who rely on the fuel for heating, cooking, and other daily needs, particularly in remote and colder regions where kerosene remains widely used.
