Petrol price hits Rs337.78 as citizens demand immediate relief
Petroleum product prices have increased again, putting further pressure on household budgets and raising concerns among consumers across Pakistan.
The new petrol price has reached Rs337.78 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs1.64 to Rs364.70 per litre.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has set the revised prices under the updated petroleum pricing mechanism.
Citizens concerned over rising costs
Citizens have expressed concern over the latest increase, saying even a small rise in fuel prices can create a new financial burden for families.
Consumers fear that higher fuel costs could quickly affect transportation and the prices of essential goods.
Transport fares may increase
Citizens said an increase in petrol and diesel prices often leads to higher public transport and freight charges.
As transportation costs rise, businesses may also face higher expenses for moving goods, which can eventually be passed on to consumers through increased prices.
The latest increase has therefore raised concerns about additional pressure on already stretched household budgets.
Government urged to provide relief
Citizens have urged the government to take immediate steps to provide relief from rising petroleum prices.
They called for measures to control fuel costs and prevent the latest increase from triggering another wave of price hikes in essential commodities.
The development comes as consumers continue to closely monitor fuel prices because of their direct impact on transportation, food, household expenses and overall inflation.
