Pervaiz Malik signals possible drop in petrol prices
Petrol prices in Pakistan may see a reduction as international oil rates continue to show a declining trend, according to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik. The development is being seen as a possible relief for the public already facing rising living costs.
The minister said recent diplomatic efforts by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi are helping ease global tensions. He added that progress towards a ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States is also improving the international environment.
He noted that easing tensions has already started to push global oil prices downward, which could benefit consumers in Pakistan if the trend continues.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said the prime minister has directed that any reduction in international fuel prices must be passed on to the public without delay. He stressed that citizens should directly benefit from global market changes. The government is also working on a transparent pricing system for petroleum products. A high-level committee has been formed to review fuel prices every week and ensure a fair adjustment process.

According to the minister, the new pricing policy will be developed after consultations with all relevant stakeholders to create a stable and sustainable system. He added that the government will keep the public fully informed about price changes and the reasons behind them to ensure transparency and build trust.
Despite regional uncertainties, the minister confirmed that fuel supply across Pakistan remains stable. He credited government planning and industry cooperation for maintaining uninterrupted supply chains. Officials are also reviewing Pakistan’s broader energy security strategy to better handle future global challenges and price fluctuations.
