Pakistan's FBR collects Rs13.6 trillion in FY2025-26 taxes
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs13,601 billion in taxes during the fiscal year 2025-26, exceeding its annual tax collection target. During the same period, the tax authority also paid Rs597 billion in refunds to taxpayers.
The FBR chairman said the institution had successfully achieved its annual tax collection target of Rs12,983 billion for the fiscal year. He said the strong revenue performance reflected improved tax collection across different sectors.
According to official documents, the FBR collected Rs6,645 billion in income tax, Rs4,731 billion in sales tax, Rs840 billion in Federal Excise Duty, and Rs1,385 billion in customs duty between July 2025 and June 2026.

The documents also showed that during the previous fiscal year, 2024-25, the FBR collected Rs12,237 billion in taxes and paid Rs493 billion in refunds. After refund payments, the net tax revenue for that year stood at Rs11,745 billion.
Officials said the government has now assigned the FBR a new tax collection target of Rs14,264 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27. The authority will now focus on increasing revenue collection to achieve the higher target.
The latest figures highlight steady growth in Pakistan’s tax revenue and show that the FBR collected more taxes than in the previous fiscal year. The new target for FY2026-27 will test whether the authority can maintain this momentum.
