Pakistan expected to see holiday-filled May 2026
May 2026 is expected to bring a rare stretch of long holidays for people across Pakistan, with estimates suggesting up to 14 to 15 days off when weekends and public holidays are combined.
The month will start with a long weekend as Labour Day falls on a Friday. This will be followed by the regular weekend, giving employees in both public and private sectors three continuous days of rest.
More holidays are expected later in the month due to Eid al-Adha. If the moon is sighted on May 17, Eid is likely to fall between May 27 and May 29, which could create another five-day break when combined with the weekend.
If the moon is not sighted and the month completes 30 days, Eid may instead be observed from May 28 to May 30, and the holiday period could extend further with Sunday, May 31.

There is also speculation that the government may announce an additional holiday on Monday, May 25. If approved, it would connect with the weekend of May 23 and May 24, creating another extended break.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on May 17 to observe the moon of Zil Hajj. Final Eid dates will be officially confirmed after the announcement. The upcoming month is being seen as a rare opportunity for extended rest, travel, and family gatherings across the country.
