The Pakistan Airports Authority has introduced a new passenger facility at Islamabad International Airport to make travel easier for people arriving from abroad.
A currency exchange counter has been set up in the international arrivals lounge so passengers can convert their foreign currency into Pakistani rupees as soon as they land. The facility was formally inaugurated by Director Commercial Rabia Salma in the presence of the airport manager and members of the commercial team.
Officials said the new counter will help travellers avoid the hassle of leaving the airport to find currency exchange services in the city. With this facility, passengers arriving in Islamabad can immediately obtain local currency and continue their journey without delay.

Airport authorities said the initiative is part of broader efforts to improve passenger convenience and enhance services at the airport.
Earlier, Islamabad International Airport also achieved a major milestone when it received a 3-star rating from the global airport ranking organisation Skytrax. With this recognition, Islamabad International Airport became the first airport in Pakistan to receive a 3-star rating from Skytrax.
The rating was awarded after reviewing several factors, including passenger facilities, service quality, and airport management standards. In the same Skytrax assessment, Dubai Airport was also classified as a 3-star airport.
Meanwhile, Lahore and Karachi airports retained their 2-star ratings in the global ranking. Officials believe the new facility and improved services reflect the airport’s ongoing efforts to provide a better experience for travellers.
