The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has temporarily suspended gas supply to industrial consumers on Sundays over the past two weeks to ensure uninterrupted and adequate supply to domestic users, officials confirmed.
According to an SSGC spokesperson, this step has been taken due to increased household gas demand during the winter season, which puts considerable pressure on the gas system. The company carefully monitors the network, and the decision to cut industrial supply on Sundays is based on a thorough inspection of the system to ensure that households receive proper gas pressure during peak morning and evening hours.
The spokesperson emphasized that prioritizing domestic consumers has become essential under current conditions. During the colder months, household gas consumption rises sharply, straining the network. Temporarily suspending industrial gas supply on Sundays is being implemented as a strategic and balancing measure to maintain system stability and ensure reliable service for homes.
SSGC further clarified that if domestic gas demand continues to rise, authorities may consider extending industrial supply restrictions to Saturdays as well. However, no final decision has been made yet regarding additional cuts, and industrial users are currently affected only on Sundays.
