Murree authorities have imposed Section 144 from August 10 to 16 ahead of Independence Day, with special security and traffic arrangements introduced to maintain law and order in the popular hill station.

DPO Murree Raza Tanveer Supra, in a video message, urged citizens and tourists to cooperate with police and follow all regulations during the celebrations. He said maintaining peace and protecting the lives and property of residents and visitors remain the police’s top priorities.

Under the new restrictions, only families will be allowed to enter Mall Road, while groups without families will not be permitted entry. The DPO warned that hooliganism, misbehavior, harassment or any activity that disturbs public order would not be tolerated.

Authorities have also imposed a complete ban on aerial firing and the public display of weapons. Visitors have been warned against wheelies, dangerous driving and other risky stunts, with violators facing legal action.

The DPO also appealed to citizens to avoid fireworks and other unlawful activities during Independence Day celebrations. He made it clear that violations of Section 144 would result in indiscriminate action by law enforcement authorities.

Police are expected to maintain a strong presence in busy areas as large numbers of tourists are likely to visit Murree during the holiday period. Officials have urged visitors to cooperate with security personnel and follow traffic and safety instructions.

The restrictions will remain in effect through August 16 as authorities seek to prevent disorder and ensure a safe environment for residents, tourists and families visiting Murree.
