Motorway Police issue travel advisory amid ongoing monsoon rains

The Motorway Police have issued a public travel advisory, urging drivers and passengers to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall. Officials said changing weather conditions could make travelling on motorways and national highways more dangerous.

According to a spokesperson, wet roads can become slippery, making it more difficult for drivers to control their vehicles. Reduced visibility during heavy rain can also increase the risk of road accidents if motorists fail to take proper precautions.

Drivers, particularly those travelling in Karachi and other rain-affected areas, have been advised to reduce their speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and use headlights whenever visibility is poor.

The Motorway Police also urged people planning trips to hilly and mountainous areas to avoid non-essential travel, as continuous rainfall could trigger landslides and block major roads. Motorists have also been warned not to cross flooded roads, streams, or rain-fed waterways, as strong water currents and flash floods can quickly become life-threatening.

Travellers heading to northern areas have been advised to check the latest weather forecast and road conditions before starting their journey. Officials said staying informed can help people avoid dangerous routes and unexpected delays.
