More than 300 athletes set to receive Punjab athlete cards - Check now
The Punjab government is preparing to issue CM Punjab Athlete Cards to leading athletes across different sports. More than 300 athletes will receive the cards in the initial phase.
The initiative aims to provide financial support to high-performing athletes and make payments from the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund easier and more transparent.
Digital payments through Bank of Punjab
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazal-ur-Rehman shared the development while chairing a meeting at Punjab Stadium. The meeting reviewed the issuance process and the digital payment system linked to the athlete cards.
Officials from the Bank of Punjab (BoP) briefed participants about the card’s features and explained how financial assistance will be transferred to athletes.
Kabaddi, tennis and hockey athletes included
The first phase will cover top-performing athletes from several sports. These include kabaddi, tennis and hockey, with other eligible athletes also expected to benefit from the programme.
The athlete cards are expected to provide a dedicated mechanism for distributing financial assistance to deserving sportspeople.
Punjab sports support gets digital upgrade
Director General Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi and other senior officials attended the meeting. Officials discussed the digital payment mechanism and steps required to ensure the cards are issued smoothly.
The move is part of Punjab’s efforts to strengthen support for athletes while using digital systems to make sports-related payments more efficient.
