Monsoon death toll reaches 23 as rain batters Punjab, KP
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), nine people lost their lives in Punjab due to weather-related incidents, while dozens of others were injured as heavy rain damaged homes and disrupted daily life.
In Raiwind’s Kot Babu Khan area near Lahore, one person was killed and three others were injured after the roof of a house collapsed. Another four people were injured when a roof caved in near Band Road in Gulshan Ravi.
In Pakpattan’s village 75-D, a woman died after the roof of a room collapsed, while a young man was electrocuted in Hota. In Gujrat, one person was killed and six others were injured in separate roof collapse incidents.
Three people were also injured after the roof of a house collapsed in Sialkot. In Gujranwala, rescue officials said three people were killed and 14 others were injured in eight separate roof and wall collapse incidents. Rescue officials also reported one death and two injuries in three separate electrocution incidents in Gujranwala.
In Sahiwal, a woman lost her life and three others were injured in roof collapse incidents. Eight people were injured in separate roof and wall collapse incidents in Mandi Bahauddin, while one person was injured after a shed collapsed in Bahawalnagar.
Heavy rainfall also submerged roads in Pindi Bhattian, disrupting traffic and creating difficulties for commuters. Faisalabad, Bhalwal and Jhang also received heavy rain, leaving several low-lying areas under water. The PDMA said the current spell of monsoon rains in Punjab is expected to continue until July 24 and urged people to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PDMA reported that 14 people were killed and 19 others were injured in various rain-related incidents across the province. The victims included six men, six children and two women.
Officials said 28 houses were affected by heavy rain and flash floods, including six that were completely destroyed and 22 that were partially damaged. The affected districts include Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Lower Chitral, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar, Kurram and North Waziristan.
The KP PDMA said rescue and relief operations are continuing with the support of Rescue 1122 and district administrations. Authorities added that water levels in rivers and streams across the province remain within normal limits, although intermittent rainfall is expected to continue until July 23.
