Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a major relief package for workers across Punjab, increasing Ramazan financial support to Rs 10000 per worker to help families manage rising expenses during the holy month.
According to Social Security Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Kharl, the Punjab Social Security Institution has started distributing Rs 10000 to registered workers under the Ramazan relief program. More than 12 lakh workers across the province will benefit from this initiative through the Maryam Nawaz ration card.
Officials said the amount has been significantly increased from the previous Rs 3000 to Rs 10000 on the direct instructions of the chief minister. This increase is aimed at providing stronger financial support so workers can purchase essential food items or receive the amount in cash, depending on their needs.
The commissioner added that workers can use the ration card to buy groceries or withdraw cash easily, giving them flexibility during Ramazan. Authorities believe this step will reduce financial pressure on low-income families during a time when household expenses usually rise.

To ensure smooth distribution, Social Security field officers are working day and night across Punjab. A dedicated ration card support cell has also been activated to guide workers and resolve their concerns.
Biometric verification of workers is ongoing across the province to ensure transparency and timely delivery. Officials say the program reflects the government’s focus on supporting laborers and ensuring their families can observe Ramazan with dignity and ease.
