(Web Desk): Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan have been raised for the next 15 days, with petrol up by Rs5 and high-speed diesel increased by Rs7.32 per litre nationwide.

The Government of Pakistan has announced a fresh increase in petroleum prices, raising petrol by Rs5 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs7.32 per litre for the next 15 days.

According to an official notification issued by the Petroleum Division on Sunday, the new petrol price has been fixed at Rs258.17 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) will now cost Rs275.70 per litre.

New Fuel Prices Effective Immediately

With the issuance of the notification, the revised fuel prices have come into effect across Pakistan and will remain applicable for the upcoming fortnight. The move is expected to impact transportation costs and inflation-sensitive sectors.

Background of Recent Fuel Adjustments

It is worth recalling that on January 31, the government had raised high-speed diesel prices by Rs11.30 per litre, pushing its rate to Rs268.38 per litre at the time. In contrast, petrol prices were kept unchanged at Rs253.17 per litre, offering short-term relief to consumers amid volatile global oil markets.

Impact on Economy and Consumers

The latest increase comes amid ongoing economic pressures and fluctuating international oil prices. Analysts warn that higher diesel rates could further affect food prices and freight costs, as diesel is widely used in transport and agriculture.
