Maryam Nawaz leaves for four-day official visit to China
The visit is expected to focus on expanding bilateral cooperation and strengthening institutional ties between Punjab and Xinjiang.
Chinese Consul General Sun Yang was present at the airport to see off the Punjab chief minister before her departure. The visit comes as Punjab continues efforts to develop closer ties with Chinese provinces and institutions in areas of mutual interest.
Maryam Nawaz arrives in Urumqi
Upon arrival at Urumqi International Airport, Maryam Nawaz will be received by senior Chinese officials. She will then begin her official engagements at the Kunlun Hall of the conference centre at the Xinjiang State Guest House.
Several meetings and official activities are scheduled during her stay in Xinjiang. Maryam Nawaz will stay at the Xinjiang State Guest House as a state guest throughout her official visit.
High-level meeting with Xinjiang leadership
During the visit, Maryam Nawaz is scheduled to meet a high-level delegation led by Xinjiang Party Secretary Chen Xiaojiang. The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Punjab and Xinjiang.
The two sides are also expected to exchange views on initiatives that could improve institutional and economic links between the two regions. The engagement is among the key activities planned during the chief minister’s four-day visit.
Meeting with senior Xinjiang official
Maryam Nawaz will also meet He Zhongyou, Deputy Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regional Committee. The meeting will provide another opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
High-level contacts between provincial and regional officials can help build closer working relationships and identify areas for future collaboration. The meeting is therefore expected to support continued engagement between Punjab and Xinjiang.
XPCC delegation also on agenda
The Punjab chief minister is also scheduled to meet a delegation from the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC). The meeting will bring together representatives from Punjab and the important Xinjiang institution to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
