Maryam Nawaz inaugurates electric bus service in five districts
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the chief minister said the electric bus service has been launched in Layyah, Chiniot, Sialkot, Okara and Murree. She added that similar services will be introduced in all cities and tehsils across Punjab in phases.
Maryam Nawaz said the initiative will provide citizens with comfortable, safe and affordable transport while promoting environmentally friendly travel throughout the province. She described the project as the largest public transport initiative in Pakistan’s history and said Murree is receiving an electric bus service for the first time.

The chief minister announced that special fare concessions have been introduced for senior citizens, women and students to make public transport more accessible and affordable. She said another 101 electric buses are being dispatched to additional districts, while the Punjab government aims to operate 5,000 electric buses across the province over the next five years.
Maryam Nawaz added that the government remains committed to further improving Punjab’s transport system by introducing more modern, high-quality and eco-friendly transport services in the coming years.
The expansion of the electric bus network is expected to improve urban mobility, reduce environmental pollution and provide better travel facilities for people across Punjab.
