Maryam Nawaz announces seven more electric buses for Sargodha
The announcement comes during a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly from Sargodha, who brief the chief minister on development projects and public response to government initiatives.
The electric bus service is already operating in several areas of the district, providing residents with a more comfortable and convenient way to travel. The Punjab government has been expanding electric bus services to smaller cities as part of its wider public transport and clean mobility plans.
Lawmakers brief CM on Sargodha projects
A delegation of Sargodha lawmakers meets Maryam Nawaz to discuss development priorities and ongoing projects in the district.
The delegation includes Provincial Minister Sohaib Ahmed Malik, Mansoor Azam, Mian Sultan Ranjha, Ikram-ul-Haq, Safdar Hussain Sahi, Rana Munawar Hussain, Taimur Ali Khan and Sardar Asim Sher Maken.
The lawmakers appreciate the government’s development work and share feedback from residents about various public projects. They also highlight the impact of the electric bus service and other initiatives aimed at improving facilities for citizens.
More electric buses planned for Sargodha
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz announces seven more electric buses for Sargodha. The additional buses are expected to strengthen the existing service and provide more transport options for residents.
The provincial government has already introduced electric buses in Sargodha as part of its plan to improve public transport in cities outside Lahore and other major urban centres. Earlier, the government allocated electric buses for Sargodha Division, with services introduced to provide affordable, comfortable and environment-friendly travel.
Existing service receives positive response
The lawmakers told the chief minister that the electric bus service is receiving a positive response from the public.
They say thousands of people are benefiting from the service in areas including Bhalwal, Bhera, Sillanwali, University, DHQ, Shahinabad, Kot Momin and Tehsil Sahiwal.
The service is particularly important for people who depend on public transport for daily travel to educational institutions, hospitals, markets and workplaces. Electric buses are also being promoted as a cleaner alternative to conventional public transport, with the provincial government linking the programme to its broader clean mobility plans.
Focus on development projects
Maryam Nawaz also directs the lawmakers to monitor several development projects in Sargodha closely. These include the Model Village initiative, the Suthra Punjab Programme and clean drinking water projects.
The chief minister stresses that development work should be monitored closely to ensure projects are completed properly, and public needs are addressed. The meeting also discusses proposals to accelerate ongoing development schemes across the district.

Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Institute praised
The lawmakers praised the establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha. They describe its completion in a short period as an important development for the people of the region.
The cardiac facility is expected to improve access to specialised heart treatment for residents who previously had to travel to other cities for advanced medical care. The Punjab government has also highlighted the expansion of cardiology facilities across the province as part of its healthcare initiatives.
CM stresses equal development across Punjab
Maryam Nawaz says she is pleased to see people, particularly women and children, using electric buses for comfortable travel. She says every city, including Sargodha, is being placed on the path of development and that resources are being made available to facilitate citizens.
The chief minister stresses that development should not remain limited to major cities and that people across Punjab should receive better public services. She says equal development across Punjab is part of Nawaz Sharif’s vision.
