The Jaffar Express, which connects Quetta with Peshawar, will remain suspended on August 25 and 26, according to Pakistan Railways officials.

No Jaffar Express train will depart from Quetta for Peshawar on either day. Railway authorities have refunded fares to passengers who had already booked tickets for the affected services.

The suspension is expected to affect passengers travelling between Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the Jaffar Express serves several important stations along its route.

Reason remains unclear

Pakistan Railways has not yet disclosed the reason behind the latest suspension. Passengers planning to travel on the route have been advised to check with railway authorities for updated schedules before starting their journeys.

The development comes at a time when Pakistan Railways is working to restore and improve train services on different routes.

Service disrupted several times

The Jaffar Express has faced repeated disruptions this month. Officials have suspended the service at least three times during August, raising concerns among regular passengers who depend on the train for long-distance travel.

In an earlier disruption, a Jaffar Express travelling from Peshawar towards Quetta was terminated at Jacobabad Railway Station instead of completing its scheduled journey to Quetta.

The latest two-day suspension has again drawn attention to the reliability of one of Pakistan’s important intercity rail services.

Passengers affected by the August 25 and 26 cancellations are expected to receive further information from Pakistan Railways regarding the restoration of normal operations.
