Lahore Traffic Police has announced a special traffic advisory for August 13 and 14 to manage traffic during Independence Day celebrations across the city.

According to the plan, fireworks will be held at five locations: Greater Iqbal Park, Dolmen Mall Defence, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Adda Plot and Liberty Market.

Musical programmes will also be organised at Liberty Market and H Block in Defence Phase 6, attracting large crowds and potentially increasing traffic pressure around the venues.

To maintain smooth traffic flow, the traffic police has deployed officers and personnel under the supervision of three senior superintendents of police, 16 deputy superintendents of police and 500 traffic inspectors.

Special checkpoints will be established at 62 locations across Lahore. Officials will focus on preventing wheelie riding, hooliganism and other activities that could create traffic disruptions or pose risks to citizens.

Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said authorities would not tolerate road blockages, road rage or any activity that interferes with the movement of traffic.

Traffic officials have urged citizens attending Independence Day events to cooperate with personnel deployed on roads and follow traffic regulations.

The public has also been advised to plan journeys in advance, particularly around the locations where fireworks and musical programmes are scheduled.

The special arrangements are aimed at ensuring that Independence Day celebrations continue peacefully while keeping traffic moving across major roads and busy areas.

Authorities are expected to remain on duty throughout the celebrations and take action against violations that could endanger citizens or cause unnecessary congestion.

Citizens have been encouraged to celebrate Independence Day with enthusiasm while maintaining discipline and respecting traffic rules.
