Metrobus service faces possible suspension
The Lahore Metrobus shutdown could begin from August 11 if the fuel funding issue is not resolved.
VEDA Transit Solutions (Pvt.) Limited, the private operator of the Lahore Metrobus System, has warned the Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) that it may suspend operations.
In a letter sent to the PMA, VEDA said it had exhausted its available financial resources and could no longer continue operations without government support.
The company said it had requested funds for fuel but had not received a decision from the authority.
Fuel shortage creates fresh concern
VEDA said the PMA had also been asked to arrange fuel from its own resources in line with a court order issued on July 29, 2026.
The operator warned that its existing fuel supplies would only allow services to continue until the available stock runs out.
If the matter is not resolved, the Metrobus service Lahore could remain suspended from August 11.
The development has raised concerns among thousands of passengers who depend on the service every day.

Court order adds pressure
The company said the fuel issue was linked to the implementation of the court order.
VEDA maintained that any suspension caused by the failure to arrange fuel should not be considered a default or unwillingness on its part.
It also said that any operational, financial and legal consequences resulting from the situation should rest with the PMA.
The Lahore Metrobus shutdown could therefore become a major challenge for the transport authorities if the dispute continues.
