Lahore launches scooty driving school for women
The Lahore Traffic Police has launched a new scooty driving school for women at Liberty Market under the Punjab government’s Women on Wheels programme. The new centre aims to help women travel independently by providing free professional driving training.
The driving school has been established to promote women’s mobility, confidence, and economic independence. Women who enrol at the centre will receive training in both scooty riding and car driving in a safe and supportive environment.
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said the new facility will follow a women-to-women service model. Female instructors will train and guide women learners, making the learning process more comfortable and secure.
According to the CTO, the Lahore Traffic Police has already trained more than 7,000 women in scooty riding and car driving through its driving centres across the city. With the opening of the Liberty Market facility, the total number of women’s driving schools in Lahore has increased to 12.

CTO Shirazi said the training programme includes not only practical driving lessons but also basic electrical and mechanical knowledge. This will help participants understand routine vehicle maintenance and deal with minor mechanical issues on their own.
He added that all driving schools are equipped with modern facilities to provide quality instruction and maintain a safe learning environment for participants. Officials believe the free scooty riding programme will help women become more independent, reduce their reliance on public transport, and improve their access to workplaces, colleges, and universities.
The Lahore Traffic Police has encouraged interested women to register at any designated driving school in the city to benefit from the free training offered under the Women on Wheels programme.
