Lahore issues traffic plan for England-Sri Lanka match
Lahore traffic police have deployed more than 1,000 wardens for the England vs Sri Lanka match at Gaddafi Stadium to manage traffic and guide cricket fans.
The Lahore traffic plan has been prepared for the sixth match of the tri-series. Authorities say major roads will remain open, but temporary stops may be introduced when the teams travel to and from the stadium. The England vs Sri Lanka match could still cause delays around the venue.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi said two senior superintendents of police, seven deputy superintendents and 90 inspectors would supervise traffic arrangements.
Ten forklifts and seven breakdown vehicles have also been deployed to remove illegally parked vehicles and clear roads.
Which Roads Will Remain Open?
According to traffic police, Mall Road, Canal Road, Jail Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg will remain open to regular traffic. The Lahore traffic plan does not include any permanent road closures.
However, police may temporarily stop vehicles when the teams move through the city. These restrictions will be removed once the teams have passed.
Drivers should expect possible delays near the stadium, where Gaddafi Stadium traffic may become heavier during team movements.
The England vs Sri Lanka match is expected to attract cricket fans to the venue, so commuters should follow instructions from traffic officials and consider alternative routes when possible.
Where Can Cricket Fans Park?
Four parking areas have been designated to help spectators reach the stadium. Fans travelling from Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Ferozepur Road can park at Government College for Boys via Ferozepur Road.
Spectators coming from Thokar Niaz Baig, Johar Town and Kahna can reach the same parking facility through Kalma Chowk and Centrepoint.

Those travelling from the cantonment and Defence areas can use the designated parking locations at CBD, Sunfort Hotel and Liberty Market.
The authorities have included these arrangements in the Lahore traffic plan to reduce congestion and help fans park safely.
People attending the England vs Sri Lanka match should use the suggested routes instead of leaving vehicles along busy roads.
Illegally parked vehicles may be removed. Drivers should follow directions from wardens to keep roads clear and help traffic move smoothly around the stadium.
How to Get Live Traffic Updates
The CTO said commuters could check changing traffic conditions through the Rasta app and Rasta FM 88.6. Citizens can also call police helpline 15 for assistance and guidance.
Shirazi advised people to avoid unnecessary travel towards the stadium while the teams are moving. He urged spectators to follow parking instructions and cooperate with traffic wardens.
Before leaving home, fans should check the latest updates about Gaddafi Stadium traffic and allow extra time for their journeys. Temporary restrictions may affect travel even when main roads remain open.
