Lahore helmet crackdown begins as traffic police target motorcyclists
The special operation will include a general hold-up at different locations.
The campaign is being conducted on the directions of Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Amara Athar. Traffic police will stop motorcyclists without helmets and take legal action against them.
Special teams to check riders
Special teams will be deployed at major entry and exit points of Lahore. Motorcyclists will be checked at these locations and those travelling without helmets will face action under the law.
Traffic authorities have also issued necessary instructions to all city SPs and DSPs. The officers have been directed to ensure the effective implementation of the special campaign.
Entry restrictions for riders
The CTO Lahore has made it clear that motorcyclists without helmets will not be allowed to enter the city. Citizens have also been urged to wear helmets whenever they travel on motorcycles.
Officials said the campaign is not only focused on issuing challans or increasing government revenue. Its main purpose is to protect the lives of citizens and reduce the risk of serious injuries in road accidents.
Traffic police stress safety
Amara Athar urged motorcyclists to wear a quality helmet during every journey. She said riders should do this for their own safety and the protection of their families, rather than simply because they fear police action or a challan.
Traffic police said wearing a helmet may appear to be a small safety measure. However, it can play an important role in protecting a rider’s life in the event of an accident.
The Lahore helmet crackdown is aimed at improving road safety and encouraging riders to follow traffic rules. Regular checks could also increase helmet use among motorcyclists.
For riders, wearing a proper helmet can reduce the risk of serious head injuries during an accident. Following the rule can therefore help avoid both legal action and unnecessary safety risks.
