KP suspends BISP recovery from salaries and pensions
The Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has temporarily suspended the recovery of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) payments from the salaries and pensions of government employees and pensioners, offering immediate relief to those affected.
According to an official notification, the decision has been taken on the instructions of the Controller General of Accounts. The suspension came into effect on July 1, 2026, and will remain in force until further orders.
Under the latest directive, no BISP-related deductions will be made from the monthly salaries of government employees or the pensions of retired government servants in the province. The suspension also applies to recoveries from the spouses of government employees and pensioners.
The notification has instructed all relevant government offices to immediately submit the latest details of pending BISP recovery cases. The information will be reviewed before any further decision is made regarding the continuation or resumption of deductions.
The temporary suspension is expected to provide financial relief to many employees and pensioners whose salaries or pensions had been reduced due to ongoing BISP recovery adjustments.
Officials have not yet explained the specific reasons behind the decision, but the move follows directions issued by the Controller General of Accounts, suggesting that the recovery mechanism may be under review.
Authorities have clarified that the suspension is temporary and does not mean the recoveries have been permanently cancelled. A final decision will be announced after the review process is completed and fresh instructions are issued.
