KP rolls out new land compensation payment system
The Accountant General Office has issued a new procedure for land acquisition compensation payments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, setting out a clearer mechanism for transferring funds to landowners.
According to an official notification, compensation payments will now be made through transfer entries from the consolidated fund. Under the revised system, the approved amount will first be transferred to the public account before being released to eligible landowners.
Officials said the new procedure is designed to strengthen financial discipline and ensure that all transactions follow a proper legal and administrative framework. Authorities believe the revised mechanism will also help reduce delays and improve monitoring of public funds.
The notification states that payments to landowners will only be made after approved bills and vouchers have been completed. District Accounts Officers have been directed to ensure that all legal requirements are fulfilled before any amount is released.
The government has also decided that payments will be processed under the MPG system to enhance transparency, accountability and record management. Officials said every transaction must be properly documented so that the movement of public money can be traced at each stage.
The Accountant General Office has instructed all concerned departments to implement the new standard operating procedures without delay. District Accounts Officers have also been told to ensure timely approval, verification and recording of all transactions.
Under the new system, treasury staff will release payments only after completing the relevant documentation and maintaining the required official record.
