KP Ends Friday Work-from-Home Policy for Government Offices
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially withdrawn its Friday work-from-home policy, restoring the day as a regular in-office working day for all provincial government employees.
The decision was approved by the provincial cabinet and communicated through an official notification issued to all government departments. Under the revised policy, employees are now required to ensure full attendance at their respective offices every Friday, bringing an end to the remote work arrangement that had been in place for selected government offices.
The Friday work-from-home policy was originally introduced as part of the provincial government's austerity measures aimed at reducing operational expenditures. By limiting the number of employees physically present in offices one day a week, the government sought to lower electricity consumption, fuel costs for official vehicles, and other administrative expenses.
However, following a review of administrative and public service requirements, the provincial cabinet decided that normal office operations should resume throughout the five-day working week. Officials believe the move will improve coordination among departments, enhance administrative efficiency, and ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.

The provincial government has directed all departments, directorates, and relevant offices to implement the revised schedule with immediate effect. Authorities have also instructed departmental heads to monitor compliance and ensure that government offices remain fully functional on Fridays.
With the latest notification now in effect, all provincial public offices across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will operate under the standard five-day, full in-office work schedule, marking the end of the province's Friday work-from-home arrangement.
