ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Khawaja Asif LESCO corruption allegations have triggered fresh debate after a transformer repair payment of Rs80,000 was allegedly collected from villagers without an official receipt.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif shared details of the incident on social media platform X. According to him, a transformer in the village of his domestic worker had burned out, causing electricity problems for local residents.

Asif said he contacted a former LESCO chief executive and requested assistance in resolving the issue. Following the request, LESCO staff reportedly repaired the transformer and restored power to the area.

Villagers Allegedly Paid Rs80,000

According to the minister, local residents pooled funds and made a transformer repair payment of Rs80,000 to LESCO employees for the repair work. The amount was reportedly collected directly from villagers.

However, Khawaja Asif LESCO corruption allegations gained attention after he claimed that no receipt was issued for the payment. He alleged that residents later requested proof of payment but were unable to obtain any official documentation.

Questions Raised Over Transparency

The transformer repair payment has become the central issue in the controversy. Khawaja Asif said it was surprising that such a situation occurred despite the involvement of a former senior official from the power sector.

He remarked that if employees were unwilling to follow proper procedures even after recommendations from influential figures, ordinary consumers could face even greater difficulties. The Khawaja Asif LESCO corruption allegations have therefore raised concerns about accountability and transparency within public utility services.

LESCO Yet to Issue Response

So far, LESCO has not released an official statement regarding the claims. The company has also not publicly addressed the transformer repair payment or the allegations made by the minister.
