KARACHI (Web Desk): The Karachi traffic plan has been activated as MA Jinnah Road remains close for the Chehlum procession Karachi, with major diversions announced across the city.

Karachi traffic plan activated for Chehlum procession

The Karachi Traffic Police has issued a detailed Karachi traffic plan to manage vehicle movement during the main Chehlum procession Karachi.

According to officials, the central procession will begin from Nishtar Park at 9:00am on Tuesday, August 4. To ensure security and smooth management of the religious event, MA Jinnah Road will remain closed to traffic throughout the procession.

Authorities have advised commuters to use alternate routes and avoid unnecessary travel near the procession route.

MA Jinnah Road closure and major traffic diversions

As part of the Karachi traffic plan, vehicles traveling from Saddar toward Tower will be diverted through Preedy Street and II Chundrigar Road.

The Karachi Traffic Police said traffic diversions Karachi will also be enforced around Lighthouse, Empress Market, Regal Chowk and Tibet Centre to reduce congestion near the procession route.

Motorists have been urged to follow traffic signs and instructions from traffic wardens deployed across the city.

Alternative routes for different parts of Karachi

Officials said vehicles coming from Shahrah-e-Quaideen will be redirected through Kashmir Road and Peoples Chorangi.

Traffic from Korangi, Landhi and the National Highway will be diverted through Rashid Minhas Road toward the Super Highway.

People traveling from Nazimabad will be able to reach their destinations through Lasbela, Garden and Nishtar Road.

Meanwhile, traffic from Liaquatabad will be diverted from Lasbela Chowk toward Nazimabad No 10.

Drivers coming from Hasan Square can travel through Shahrah-e-Quaideen, Society Light Signal and Teen Hatti before reaching Lasbela Chowk.

Vehicles arriving from Shahrah-e-Faisal will be diverted through Society Light Signal and Sher Shah Suri Road.

Those traveling from Jamshed Road toward Guru Mandir have been advised to use Bahadur Yar Jang Road or Soldier Bazaar Road instead.

Heavy vehicles restricted during procession

The Karachi Traffic Police announced that heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 10:00am until the Chehlum procession Karachi concludes.

Officials also confirmed that parking of all kinds will remain prohibited along the procession route.

Any vehicle found parked in restricted areas will be towed immediately to prevent disruption and maintain security.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic officials and plan their journeys in advance.
