(Web Desk): Millions of residents in Karachi will experience prolonged electricity outages today as K-Electric shuts down 44 feeders for maintenance, lasting up to 15 hours.

K-Electric has announced extensive power outages across Karachi today, Saturday, due to scheduled maintenance work on multiple feeders. The electricity shutdown is expected to affect 44 feeders across the city, with some areas experiencing outages for 12 to 15 hours.

The utility company clarified that this maintenance-related power cut is separate from the regular load-shedding schedule and is aimed at improving the overall stability and reliability of the electricity network. K-Electric spokespersons warned residents to prepare for extended disruptions during the day.

Affected areas include major residential and industrial hubs such as Liaquatabad, Malir, Landhi, Korangi, Orangi, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, F.B Area, North Karachi, DHA, Shah Faisal, Noors Chowrangi, Khawaja Ajmeer Nagri, and Godhra, along with several industrial feeders.

Authorities urged citizens and businesses to plan their day accordingly, secure essential appliances, and avoid unnecessary electricity usage during the maintenance period. Residents relying on medical equipment or refrigeration were advised to make alternative arrangements to avoid inconvenience.

K-Electric also stressed that its field teams are actively monitoring the situation and working to restore electricity safely and efficiently as soon as the maintenance is complete. Residents can contact K-Electric’s helpline or access updates online for real-time information on feeder status.

This maintenance effort reflects the utility’s ongoing commitment to upgrading Karachi’s electricity infrastructure and ensuring long-term reliability despite short-term disruptions.
