Jet fuel price jumps in Pakistan as diesel levy rises and petrol gets relief
The price of jet fuel in Pakistan has increased following a fresh upward revision in petroleum rates, according to an official notification issued by authorities.
The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) used by aircraft has been raised by Rs12.32 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs295.84 per litre from the previous Rs283.52 per litre. The increase is expected to raise operational costs for airlines and could potentially affect airfares in the coming weeks.
Alongside the hike in jet fuel, the government has also adjusted petroleum levies on major fuel products as part of its periodic review mechanism.
The levy on high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs8 per litre, raising it from Rs44.59 to Rs53.26 per litre. Diesel is widely used in transportation, agriculture and industrial operations, meaning the change could have broader economic implications.
In contrast, the petroleum levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.24 per litre, offering partial relief to private vehicle owners and commuters. Officials said the revised levy structure will remain effective for one week.
Authorities said these adjustments are part of routine fuel pricing reviews linked to global oil market trends and domestic revenue requirements.
Analysts believe the increase in jet fuel and diesel costs may push up transport and logistics expenses, while the reduction in petrol levy could slightly ease pressure on everyday consumers.
The revised fuel prices came into effect immediately after the official notification, reflecting ongoing volatility in global energy markets and domestic fiscal adjustments.
