Islamabad launches online driving license system
Three driving licence services move online
The Islamabad Traffic Police has introduced a digital system to make licence services easier and save residents’ time. People can now apply for an online learner permit, driving licence renewal or duplicate driving licence through the official web portal.
The initiative follows directions from Islamabad Inspector General of Police Captain (retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry to expand digital services.
Residents can use the online system without making unnecessary visits to traffic police offices. The new facility is intended to make the application process more convenient.
Applications no longer accepted at traffic offices
The Islamabad Traffic Police has stopped accepting applications for these selected services at Traffic Headquarters in Faizabad and other police facilitation centres.
Applicants must use the official portal for an online learner permit, driving licence renewal or duplicate driving licence.
Residents should check the online instructions before travelling to an office, as applications for these services will no longer be processed through the previous walk-in arrangement.
Driving licences to be delivered at home
Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan said renewed and duplicate licences would be delivered to applicants’ homes through TCS courier services.
This means residents applying for a driving licence renewal or duplicate driving licence will not need to return to an office simply to collect the document.

The home delivery facility is expected to make the process easier, particularly for people who have limited time to visit government offices.

The Islamabad Traffic Police has advised applicants to enter their full names, correct residential addresses and active mobile numbers when submitting forms online.
Incorrect or incomplete information could delay delivery. Applicants should carefully review their details before submitting an online learner permit application or requesting another licence service.
They should also ensure that their phone numbers are active and their addresses are complete.
