Free training at five driving schools
The programme will give female students practical lessons on how to ride scooters safely. Participants will also learn about road safety and traffic rules to help them travel with greater confidence.
Expert instructors to guide students
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Sheerazi said experienced instructors would provide practical scooter riding lessons. He has directed all driving school in-charges to arrange free training sessions for female students.
Over 200,000 motorcycle licences issued
Sheerazi said authorities had issued more than 200,000 motorcycle driving licences this year. He added that special steps were being taken to improve the safety of women riders on Lahore’s roads.
Focus on women’s mobility and road safety
The training programme aims to help female students learn an important travel skill without paying for lessons. It also provides an opportunity to improve their understanding of traffic rules and safe riding practices.
Free scooter training could help more female students travel independently and confidently. However, safe roads, responsible driving and better awareness of traffic rules will also be important to protect women riders.
