HSY unveils new PIA uniforms ahead of Dreamliner debut
HSY Designs New Uniforms for PIA
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced a new uniform collection created by famous Pakistani fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, widely known as HSY.
The HSY PIA uniforms are expected to make their first appearance on October 31, 2026, aboard the airline’s inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight from London to Islamabad.
The launch comes as the national airline works to improve its image and services under its consortium-led management. The new collection combines traditional Pakistani design elements with modern international fashion.
According to PIA, the PIA new cabin crew uniforms have been designed to offer comfort, durability and confidence to crew members. The outfits feature soft, breathable fabrics and structured designs to help staff move easily during long flights.
The colours and details reflect Pakistan’s textile heritage, while the overall look maintains a modern and professional style suitable for international passengers.
HSY Says Uniforms Reflect Pakistani Hospitality
HSY said the project was about more than designing clothes. He wanted the outfits to represent national pride and the warmth of Pakistani hospitality.
“Designing for our national flag carrier is about capturing our collective pride and the genuine warmth of Pakistani hospitality.
We wanted uniforms that our crew feels extraordinarily confident and comfortable in, that respect our heritage, reflect modern fashion, and tell our story beautifully in every airport across the globe,” HSY said.
The designer is among South Asia’s best-known fashion personalities. He has created red-carpet outfits, worked in celebrity styling and helped promote Pakistani fashion internationally.
The HSY PIA uniforms will give cabin crew members a fresh appearance as the airline prepares to introduce its new aircraft service.
Their first public appearance is expected to attract attention as PIA presents its updated look to international travellers.

PIA’s History of Fashion Collaborations
PIA has worked with well-known designers for decades to develop its visual identity. In 1966, French designer Pierre Cardin created the airline’s signature A-line tunic and hood.
During the 1970s, Sir Hardy Amies, a designer known for dressing Queen Elizabeth II, introduced a more refined approach to cabin crew tailoring.
More recently, outfits designed by Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari remained in service for 12 years, according to the airline.
The latest PIA new cabin crew uniforms were selected after a competitive showcase in Karachi.
Ten leading Pakistani designers presented their concepts to a jury comprising fashion personalities and industry representatives. HSY’s collection was selected as the winner.
Uniforms to Debut on a New Aircraft
The launch is linked to PIA’s upcoming PIA Dreamliner flight, scheduled to operate from London to Islamabad on October 31. The Boeing 787-9 is expected to mark a new stage in the airline’s international operations.
The PIA Dreamliner flight will also provide the first opportunity for passengers to see the new uniforms in service. The collection is intended to represent Pakistani culture while meeting the practical needs of cabin crew.
