PM Shehbaz Sharif announces Rs160 billion development package for KP
The Shehbaz Sharif KP package aims to support infrastructure, improve education and expand technical training opportunities. It also includes plans to strengthen police capabilities as the province continues to face security challenges.
KP Adviser for Information Samar Haroon Bilour shared the details after a meeting of the federal apex committee, which discussed the country’s security situation and future measures.
How Will the Funds Be Distributed?
Under the KP Rs160 billion development package, 70% of the funding will go to the merged districts, while the remaining 30% will be allocated to other districts of the province.
Approximately Rs112 billion is earmarked for the merged districts, while Rs48 billion will be directed towards the remaining districts.
Bilour said the federal government would meet the province’s requirements through its own resources, according to her account of the meeting.
The Shehbaz Sharif KP package is expected to support infrastructure and public-sector projects. However, a detailed breakdown of individual schemes, release dates and spending arrangements has not yet been provided.
The larger allocation for merged districts is intended to address development needs in areas requiring additional public services and investment.

These schools are intended to expand access to quality education and give students more opportunities to continue their studies.
The KP Rs160 billion development package also includes plans for a technical institute in Dera Ismail Khan. The institute is expected to provide technical and vocational training, helping young people develop practical skills for employment.
However, the government has not yet shared detailed timelines, admission arrangements or implementation plans for these education projects.
KP Police and CTD to Receive Priority Support
The prime minister has also pledged to strengthen the operational capacity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police to help tackle terrorism.
Bilour said the requirements of the provincial police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) would be addressed on a priority basis.
According to a report by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Shehbaz Sharif also called for stronger security arrangements, improved police training and the completion of Safe City projects across the province.
