ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Gwadar Airport will remain closed on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday under a new operating schedule, while flights will continue during specified hours on the remaining days until December 30.

Monday and Thursday flight timings

According to the new schedule, Gwadar Airport will remain operational on Monday and Thursday during the afternoon. Operations on both days will run from 2:15pm to 4:45pm.

The limited operating window means airlines and other aircraft operators will need to ensure that their flights are planned within the specified hours. Any operation outside these hours will be subject to prior notification requirements.

Tuesday has two operating windows

Gwadar Airport will have two separate operating periods on Tuesday. The first operating window will be from 7:30am to 9:30am. The second window will run from 12:30pm to 2:15pm.

This means there will be a break between the two operating periods. Airlines and other operators will need to take both windows into account when planning flights to or from the airport.

Sunday operations scheduled

The airport will also remain operational on Sunday. According to the schedule, Sunday operations will continue from 10am to 1:30pm.

No regular operating hours have been listed for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, when the airport will remain closed under the revised schedule. Passengers travelling through Gwadar should therefore check their flight details and confirm timings before travelling to the airport.

New schedule remains in effect until December 30

The revised operating schedule will remain applicable until December 30, 2026. The change means the airport will not operate on the same basis throughout the week.

Instead, operations will be limited to specific days and time periods. The schedule is intended to provide airlines, aviation authorities and other aircraft operators with clear information about when the airport will be available for flight operations.

Advance notice required for flights outside hours

The new schedule also sets out a requirement for aircraft seeking to operate outside the specified hours. Civil or military aircraft planning to operate from Gwadar Airport outside the scheduled operating periods will have to inform the airport administration 24 hours in advance.

This requirement will allow airport authorities to make the necessary arrangements for flights operating outside the normal schedule. Advance notification will therefore be important for operators planning special or additional flights.

Requirement applies to unscheduled aircraft

Sources said prior notification has also been made mandatory to facilitate the operation of unscheduled civil and non-civil aircraft. The requirement is aimed at ensuring that airport authorities are informed before such flights are conducted.

Operators will need to provide advance information if they plan to use the airport outside the regular operating periods. This arrangement can help authorities prepare for flights that do not fall within the normal schedule.

What the revised timings mean for passengers

The revised operating hours mean passengers cannot assume that Gwadar Airport will be available throughout the week. Travellers should check their flight schedules carefully before leaving for the airport. Airlines may also need to adjust their operations to match the available time windows.

Passengers with flights scheduled outside the listed hours may need to confirm arrangements with their airline in advance. The schedule is particularly important for people travelling on days when the airport is closed.

Airlines and operators need advance planning

The revised timings require airlines and aircraft operators to plan their operations carefully.

Regular flights will need to be scheduled within the airport’s announced operating periods. For flights outside those hours, operators will have to notify the airport administration at least 24 hours in advance.

The same advance-notice requirement also applies to unscheduled civil and non-civil aircraft, according to sources. This gives airport authorities time to make arrangements for aircraft movements that fall outside normal operating hours.

Gwadar Airport plays an important regional role

Gwadar Airport serves the port city of Gwadar in Balochistan and provides an air connection for residents, visitors and businesses in the region. The airport is particularly important for people travelling to and from the coastal city.

Changes to operating hours can therefore affect passengers as well as airlines and other aircraft operators. The latest schedule provides specific windows for regular operations while setting out a separate process for flights outside those periods.

Passengers advised to check flight information

Passengers travelling through Gwadar Airport should confirm their flight timings before heading to the airport. They should also remain aware of the days when the airport will remain closed.

Airlines and travel operators can provide the latest information about individual flights. Checking updated flight information can help passengers avoid unnecessary delays or trips to the airport when operations are not scheduled.
