South Air launches new Islamabad-Multan flight route
First flight arrives in Multan
The inaugural South Air flight arrived at Multan International Airport carrying 37 passengers and six crew members.
The arrival was welcomed by airport officials and representatives of the airline. A cake-cutting ceremony was held at the Domestic Arrival Lounge to mark the launch of the new service.
The event was attended by MNA Ali Qasim Gillani, South Air representatives and officials from Multan International Airport. The ceremony marked the start of regular flights on the new route.
16 weekly flight movements planned
South Air will initially operate 16 flight movements per week between Islamabad and Multan. The schedule gives passengers several opportunities to travel during the week. Flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The service does not operate every day of the week under the announced schedule. However, the number of weekly movements is expected to provide passengers with multiple options for planning their journeys.
New option for domestic travellers
The Islamabad-Multan route is important for passengers travelling between northern and southern parts of Punjab and the federal capital. People travelling for business, education, family commitments and other purposes can use the new air service as an alternative to road and rail travel.
Air travel can also reduce journey times compared with longer journeys by road. The addition of another airline service may give passengers more flexibility when choosing their travel dates.
Multan airport welcomes new service
Multan International Airport played host to the inaugural arrival. Airport officials joined South Air representatives to mark the beginning of the new operation. The cake-cutting ceremony at the Domestic Arrival Lounge was held after the flight reached the airport.
MNA Ali Qasim Gillani also attended the event. The participation of airport officials and airline representatives highlighted the importance of the new domestic connection for the city.
Service operates on five days
According to the announced schedule, South Air flights will operate on five days of the week. Passengers will be able to travel on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Islamabad-Multan connectivity improves

The airline has initially set the service at 16 weekly flight movements. Future changes to the frequency would depend on operational requirements and passenger demand.
