Govt reduces ministers’ petrol quota and privileges: Azam Nazir Tarar
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the government has significantly reduced the monthly petrol quota for federal ministers as part of its ongoing austerity campaign.
He said the monthly petrol quota has been cut from 400 litres to 200 litres. According to the minister, the move is aimed at reducing government spending and promoting financial discipline. Azam Nazir Tarar said the privileges and facilities available to federal ministers have also been reduced under the austerity policy. He added that there is currently no room for granting any additional incentives to ministers.
The law minister said that if anyone has concerns about the 200-litre monthly petrol quota, the matter can be discussed further. However, he stressed that the government remains committed to reducing unnecessary expenses.

He said that the better use of national resources and strict financial discipline are among the government’s top priorities. For this reason, austerity measures are being implemented across different ministries and government institutions.
According to Azam Nazir Tarar, reducing official spending will help lower the burden on the national exchequer and improve financial management. He added that several facilities for ministers and senior officials have already been reduced, and that further measures may be reviewed under the government’s austerity policy in the future.
