Govt raises petrol price by Rs2.02, cuts diesel by Rs3.59
New petrol price reaches Rs391.30
The price of petrol has been increased by Rs2.02 per litre. Following the increase, petrol will now be sold at Rs391.30 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs389.28.
The latest increase keeps petrol close to the Rs400-per-litre mark, adding to fuel expenses for motorists and households. The revised petrol price will remain in effect during the three days announced by the government.
High-speed diesel becomes Rs3.59 cheaper
In contrast, the government has reduced the price of high-speed diesel by Rs3.59 per litre. Following the reduction, the new HSD price has been fixed at Rs408.53 per litre, down from Rs412.12.
Although the reduction provides some relief to diesel users, the fuel remains above the Rs400-per-litre mark. Diesel is widely used by commercial vehicles, transporters, agricultural machinery and other sectors, making changes in its price important for transportation and operating costs.
Revised fuel prices take effect from September 26
The new prices took effect on September 26 under the latest petroleum pricing mechanism.
According to the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol was increased by Rs2.02 per litre, while the price of HSD was reduced by Rs3.59 per litre.

Why are fuel prices changing?
Pakistan’s domestic petroleum prices are affected by international oil prices and other components included in the pricing formula. Changes in international benchmark prices, premiums, freight costs, and other factors can influence the rates consumers pay at petrol stations.

As a result, domestic fuel prices can change when international market conditions shift. For motorists and businesses, these adjustments can have a direct impact on transportation and operating expenses.
What does the petrol increase mean for motorists?
The Rs2.02 increase means motorists will now pay more for every litre of petrol they purchase. While the increase is relatively small on a per-litre basis, repeated changes in fuel prices can affect the monthly budgets of people who regularly use cars and motorcycles.
Higher petrol prices can also increase transportation expenses and add pressure to household spending. For consumers, the latest revision means petrol has become more expensive even as diesel users receive a reduction.
Diesel users get some relief
The Rs3.59 reduction in HSD prices offers some relief to consumers and businesses that rely heavily on diesel. Transport operators are among the major users of diesel, while the fuel is also widely used in agriculture and other commercial activities.
A lower diesel price can reduce fuel expenses for vehicles and machinery. However, the overall impact will depend on how long the lower rate remains in effect and how other operating costs change.
Fuel prices remain closely watched
Petrol and diesel prices are closely monitored by consumers because changes can have a wider effect on transportation and business costs. The latest revision has created a mixed impact, with petrol becoming more expensive while diesel prices have moved lower.
Petrol now costs Rs391.30 per litre, while high-speed diesel is priced at Rs408.53 per litre. The revised rates are currently applicable under the government’s latest announcement.
