Federal government raises minimum salary
The federal government has increased the minimum monthly salary for its employees to Rs40,700, giving lower-paid workers a financial boost under a new salary arrangement.
The decision means Federal government employees earning less than the new minimum level will receive a special allowance. The allowance will cover the gap and bring their monthly earnings up to Rs40,700.
Salary increase takes effect from July
Under the new arrangement, the minimum salary has been increased by Rs3,700. The change will apply from July 1, 2026, meaning eligible employees will receive the benefit retrospectively.
The move is expected to provide some relief to workers whose existing salaries fall below the newly fixed minimum. The government has introduced the arrangement to ensure that no eligible employee receives less than the revised amount.
The minimum salary Pakistan has now been set at Rs40,700 for the affected federal employees. Those who qualify will receive the difference through the special allowance.
