(Web Desk): A local holiday has been declared in Karachi on June 8 in connection with the annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi, one of the city's most revered spiritual figures.

The decision was announced by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), which also issued an official notification through its Human Resource Management Department. According to the notification, the holiday will be observed on June 8, 2026, corresponding to 22 Zil Hajj 1447 AH.

The announcement follows a resolution approved by the Karachi City Council to mark the annual Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi with due respect and religious significance.

Under the notification, all offices operating under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will remain closed on the occasion. However, essential and emergency services will continue functioning as usual to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience in accessing basic facilities.

Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi's shrine is among Karachi's most prominent religious, spiritual and historical landmarks. Every year, thousands of devotees and visitors from across Pakistan travel to the shrine to participate in Urs celebrations, offer prayers and attend various religious gatherings.

The annual event attracts large crowds and is considered one of the most important spiritual occasions in the city. Special religious ceremonies, recitations and gatherings are expected to be held throughout the celebrations.

Authorities have said that comprehensive arrangements will be made to facilitate visitors during the Urs. Special measures related to security, traffic management and public convenience will be implemented to ensure that the event is conducted peacefully and smoothly.
