Get e-bike at just Rs3,028, students offered under Punjab scheme
The scheme has been introduced by the Punjab government to make daily travel easier and more affordable for students.
100,000 students to benefit
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has launched the Chief Minister Electric Bike Scheme for students across the province.
Students studying in public and private educational institutions will be able to get electric bikes at a subsidised price.
More than 100,000 students studying in over 33,000 schools, colleges and universities across Punjab will be eligible for the programme.
The scheme is expected to help students who face transport problems while travelling to their educational institutions.
Subsidy reduces bike price
The total price of an electric bike has been set at Rs199,000, but the government subsidy will reduce the amount payable by students to Rs109,000.
Students will pay this amount over 36 months, bringing the monthly installment to around Rs3,028.
The Punjab government will also cover insurance, markup and registration costs under the scheme.
This means students will not have to bear these additional expenses themselves.
Online registration and special bikes
The electric bikes will be available in different colours, while special pink bikes will also be offered for female students.
Online registration for the scheme started on September 5, 2026, and eligible students can apply through the Punjab government’s designated online portal.
Maryam Nawaz said the scheme aims to provide affordable and convenient transport to students, especially female students.
She added that the programme will also support environment-friendly transportation while helping students travel more easily for their education.
The scheme could make electric bikes more accessible to students who need affordable transport.
The government subsidy and coverage of insurance, markup and registration may further reduce the financial pressure on eligible students.
The monthly payment of around Rs3,028 gives students a way to spread the cost over three years.
However, applicants should check the eligibility rules and complete terms before submitting their applications.
